The Philippine National Anthem?!

The video maybe familiar to most of us filipino facebook.com users since we might have seen it for several times already. No, this not the real one, this is a viral video posted on youtube.com by TEDxTalks featuring Joey Ayala singing his rendition of the Philippine National Anthem.

He was right on saying that maybe most of us don't really know what the song meant because we usually sing it with broken words. That we could not really understand what one word means or even worst know what that lyrics was. Most of us don't even know that the anthem was created without written words. We will never question if Pinoys can sing, never, but I surely doubt that everyone knows even the title of the anthem (Tip; not Bayang Magiliw). Check out the real one...
Some would suggest that it is due time to change the anthem, some would say other wise because we know that it is, by law, illegal to alter or change the national anthem. Though we know that it is illegal, we surely have all the right to appreciate arts in music, and we certainly have the right to choose to live rather than die. If we must die, we must die with a meaning, and to die for the country is an honor.

'Bayang Magiliw
perlas ng Silanganan
Alab ng puso
Sa dibdib mo’y buhay
Lupang hinirang
Duyan ka ng magiting
Sa manlulupig
Di ka pasisiil.
Sa dagat at bundok
Sa simoy at sa langit mong bughaw
May dilag ang tula
At awit sa paglayang minamahal
Ang kislap ng watawat mo’y
Tagumpay na nagniningning
Ang bituin at araw niya
Kailan pa ma’y di magdidilim
Lupa ng araw
ng luwalhati’t pagsinta
Buhay ay langit sa piling mo.
Aming ligaya
Na pag may mang-aapi
Ang mamatay nang dahil sa iyo.'
